Yesterday Again...

So yesterday, we woke up in our campground surrounded by giant jagged peaks. Driving out of the campground there was the calm peaceful feeling you get as you stand in the presence of mountains. After a coffee, we started to explore Glacier and planned a hike for the evening to hidden lake. We decided to take the"Going To The Sun Road, that stretches across the middle of park to fill the first half of the day with scenic views....and we did. The road is absolutely amazing, look it up. I have no idea how they can build a road on the side of a cliff... The road has no guardrails, it seems every time they try and build them, avalanches take them out...As you we took corners around thousand foot drops, the road offered us panoramic views, bighorn sheep, and 8 foot tall snowbanks...We often got to stop by the snowbanks and feel the cool air come through the window...the only problem was we were stopping for construction. We sat in construction for over 2 hours in total on the road, making the road 4 hours long.

After we got off the road we decided to loop around the bottom of the park and drive all the way back up to Many Glacier and try and do a hike. After another hour of construction on route 2....we decided to just call it a night. As we drove out of the park, planning our day tomorrow (which is actually today), we spotted a grizzly. We got out with some others and watched it from about 70 yards. We were looking down at the bear in the water, so when it would disappear below the hill, some....less sensible....people would move closer...I'm not sure they realized the grizzly was capable of traversing the 70 yards in about 4 seconds.

After leaving the park, and searching for Alfredo sauce and chicken, we found a campground that advertised hot showers. I asked the guy if he had any sites left open, he smiled and said "I got all kinds of sites"....as we drove down in to pick a site, we felt as if we were in a ghost camp ground...not a single camper in sight. Not one. We picked a site and paid the man $15 instead of the advertised $20...We are guessing because there is no hot showers anymore...We started to cook dinner after a stressful day in traffic with Ms. Frizzle. Thats when it started to rain...and thunder and lightening... We cooked our dinner in the rain, then we stripped off the rain-gear, jumped in the van and ate. After we ate, the sky cleared up for a bit, showing us a double rainbow. We decided to take the opportunity to bathe in the lake and then wash our dishes....cooooold. Soon after, the rain picked up again.

After a long day we went to bed. Sierra typed the blog for Tuesday and I planned on the blog for Yesterday...but the Nyquil kicked in too early.

Today we actually hope to hike, but either way this place is amazing.

Okay so I am a little confused on whether it is today or yesterday.... But whatever day looks like it was another beautiful one for this blog :) And glad you guys are smart enough to stay far away from the grizzly! Please drive carefully on the roads I am not even there and I am having my Mother panic attacks about you kids being to close to the edge!
